Researchers in the Tatras are revolutionizing snowmaking on ski slopes by altering water properties at a supramolecular level.
Science is also penetrating the ski slopes in the Tatras, experimenting with a method of snowmaking that may be the future. They fed the snow cannon with water, whose properties they had previously altered on a supramolecular level.
They have thus produced high-quality technical snow at temperatures at which ski resort operators never switch on their snow cannons. In ski resorts, they can only make snow when it is already freezing. If it is warmer than -5°C, turning on the snowmaking systems is essentially a waste of energy. However, these gentlemen claim that even at temperatures close to 0°C, it is possible to produce good quality technical snow.
All that is needed is a little persuasion of the water. Practically speaking, it is a supramolecular structure, that is the terminus technicus granted or named in the defence at the Technical University in Bratislava. We physically modify the water so that it is given the memory to make the ice crystals several 100 times smaller than in conventional technical snowmaking. What these gentlemen are doing does not mean that the ski season will start in the Tatras in a few days. We have just been given the opportunity to record an interesting experiment that will translate scientific basics into real practice. These are the optimal days for it.
Conditions, temperature around 0°C, high humidity, which is unfavourable for technical snowmaking. So we want to try it out right now. For the snow cannon, they have attached a patented device that, with the help of silicates and electrodes made of precious metals, alters the energy tension in and between molecules. This creates a different crystallisation than normal.
Well here we go, 2 identical cannons in identical conditions powered by water from the same source. Into 1st of them it flows untreated, into the 2nd it does. The results should be, in my opinion, that it will make 50 percent more snow than the 2nd cannon if not more. The snow cannons ran all night. The hour of truth came in the morning. This is how the untreated water cannon made snow and this is how the 2nd one did. No magic here, just what scientists have discovered, engineers have put into practice.
