Slovak enviro-technology can reduce energy costs

The unprecedented rise in the prices of energy, goods and services is here. Is this the result of the pandemic, electromobility, EU climate change policy or a bit of all of the above?

But the fact is that, among other things, the price of spot electricity has risen almost fivefold for manufacturing companies and heating plants, while the price of gas has risen more than fourfold.

Households will also pay at least 15% more for heating in January than last year, and at least 30% more for gas. However, this is only the beginning, as maintaining such a gap between household tariffs and the spot energy market is not sustainable in the long term.

In addition, food prices have already risen by 5% as a result of higher energy prices and will continue to rise inexorably over the next year.  This is a global trend, but what everyone fears is that it is not definitive and no one can say exactly when the rise in energy and commodity prices will stop, if at all.

It also has a direct impact on the entire Slovak economy and this has a broad impact on monetary inflation. Price rises of this magnitude are already severely crippling not only manufacturing companies, their production and jobs, but they are also having a major impact on the wallets of every single household.

Heat and electricity play an important role for all of us, and this negative development has an impact on the prices of services and products, which rise disproportionately to people’s incomes. Neither the government nor the business community have concrete ways of dealing with this situation, and they can only temporarily reduce the impact of rising energy prices on all of us in the long term.  Aid in the form of subsidies is possible, but it will never be enough.

What can we do to help ourselves? Can we respond to such a challenge?

Yes, there is a solution, even globally, and we have it right here at home. After 25 years of research, Slovak scientists have invented technologies that can bring huge savings in the production and distribution of electricity, heat, cold and steam. The results of their work can be seen in several countries around the world.

They are able to reduce their operating costs by up to 30%, especially for heating plants, manufacturing companies and even households that have their own heating, by using additional technologies that physically modify the liquid and gaseous media used to produce energy such as electricity and heat in a way that has not been explored before.

A major advantage of these technologies is the regeneration of the ecology and environmental efficiency of the plant and its partial decarbonisation, while maintaining all production parameters. It is even possible to increase production without increasing costs.

By applying the innovative environmental technologies offered by Blue Boson, companies can completely eliminate the need for chemical cleaning of pipelines and systems, the waste of which has a negative impact on the surrounding environment and human life.

Another major benefit for the environment is that the resulting savings have an impact on the carbon footprint and the release of CO2 into the air, mainly through savings in fuel, gas, coal and coke consumption, especially in heating and manufacturing plants. Less CO2 from smokestacks also has a financial impact, as the cost to companies of each tonne of CO2 emitted into the air today increases many times over.

Blue Boson’s applications are becoming increasingly sophisticated. It is currently being used in the largest heating plant in Poland, where it is one of the technologies with a reach into a previously unexplored area of water structuring in the cooling systems of power units. Calculations of process simulations of unit operation, supported by operational practice, indicate a significant effect on the improvement of condenser performance.

This effect is related to the change (increase) in heat capacity and other water parameters after the process. As a result, the heat transfer process in the plant is carried out with a greater driving force (temperature difference) than usual. This is due to the fact that a given unit mass of water ‘absorbs’ more heat to raise its temperature by a given unit.

Therefore, the temperature of the cooling water at the condenser outlet is even a few degrees lower than the raw water temperature, and the logarithmic mean temperature difference between the tube side and the shell side increases significantly. This results in an additional reduction in condenser pressure under the given operating conditions, an increase in turbine power (electrical output) and an improvement in unit efficiency (reduction in unit heat consumption).

After the process is applied, a significant decrease in water conductivity is also observed, which is related to the formation of clusters that separate ions of substances dissolved in water. This reduces the amount of deposits formed in the condenser, provides stable and high performance over a long period of time, increases the reliability of the equipment and reduces the cost of service work.

Another innovation is the increasing efficiency of hydrocracking in the petrochemical industry. By applying various innovative Blue Boson technologies in different processes of the company, it is possible to cumulatively significantly reduce operating costs by saving them, especially for thermal power plants, in the production of electricity, which can have a positive impact on stabilising the rising costs of heat and electricity production.Blue Boson is headed by Robert Zagozdzon, who since 1995 has demonopolised European markets in sectors ranging from telecommunications and finance to energy.
